Monte Carlo 1st Day of the Cruise

Some of the yachts had made the buildings behind the seem small. Patti pointed out that some of the yachts were several stories high.  So nice....

These two photographs show the palace and the markets right across the street.  I guess you can say that I was swept away with the charm of the city.  I couldn't believe that people lived in such a fairy tale kind of place.

We had a ball combing through the side streets.  It was like being in  a maze filled with quaint shops and restaurants.

We took a short bus tour that sped up the discovery process.  With limited time on shore you have to choose what kind of stay you are going to have.  We wanted to see the most in the shortest amount of time.  Here are the gardens in front of the famous "Casino Royal" featured in one of the latest bond films.

This was the view looking from the casino.  It really felt like one was in a palace type atmosphere.

Of course there were the luxury cars.  I don't think those are rentals.  If they are they better get insurance.  I wanted to go into the casino but there was a dress code and 20 dollar fee just to get in....

Plan B was people watching from the cafe right in front of the casino.  This was great since you win by just sitting down.

You can't help but look at all the wares offered by the local vendors.  I knew that Ferrari's were expensive but so are the hats!

Another gratuitous view of the harbor.  It was time to explore that area.

You can see some of the amenities that these home away from homes have to satisfy out creature comforts.  Some of these yachts are bigger than some condos!

We stop into many restaurants having small snack instead of giant meals.  It allows us to have more dining and relaxing experiences.

There was even a swimming pool that the locals and tourists use close to all the yachts.  Nice way to slum it..

What is a playground without any toys?

After all the sightseeing it was back to the ship for sail off.  We hope you enjoyed sharing our day... Next stop Capri.
