Start out by drawing a horizon line, make a vanishing point in the center, and draw two lines one inch from the corner
Finish drawing out the back ground trees, then mix yellow with light orange for the sky.
Continue to fill in the sky keeping in mind to darken the sky color the further up you go.
Now mix in some deep red with blue to further darken the sky.
Finish off the top and then with a clean brush start to blend the sky together.
Now take some deep red for the light
Now add in the light but making sure not to make it to big.
Add blue and dark blue to your red to fill in the trees.
Mix in more blue to create the water's color.
Paint in the water keeping in mind to progressively lighten up the water color the closer it gets to the viewer.
Paint around the dock area that you drew out earlier.
Finish up the water around the dock and then start to mix the dock colors.
Mix dark red and dark blue to get the dock color
Fill in the dock area trying to keep your lines straight.
Mix white and brown to form the base highlights on the dock
Continue to highlight applying about 3 layers while progressively getting lighter.
Use the dock base color for the lines on the top of the dock.
Using a mix of green, yellow, and a dab of orange to finish off the trees.
Mix together some deep red and white for the water highlights.
Fill in the water highlights, applying about 3 different layers that progressively get lighter by adding more yellow and orange.
Paint in the dock ends with a dark red and dark blue mix and then highlight with the same orange highlight color form the water.
Now finish off with a white and a little dab of yellow for the light source highlights.
Now sit back and enjoy your new sunset dock piece.
