Metamorphosis

    This painting was my 34th birthday painting.  After my 33rd birthday piece entitled 
" Stairway To Heaven " I wanted to continue the theme of spirituality.  "Stairway to Heaven" depicted the stairs leading to heaven but did not bring the viewer into the light.  This painting takes us there.  

    I wanted to symbolize Heaven as a tranquil beach with God, our father, as the light.  What could be more peaceful than spending time like this?  I also symbolized our transformation with the butterflies.  The butterfly goes through a metamorphosis by changing from a worm like creature to a beautiful creation with wings.  This is how I imagine going from the physical world to the spiritual realm. 

       Someone once told me that if you help a butterfly out if it's cocoon then it does not develop the strength in its wings to fly. We can certainly learn from that.  In my life I was in the middle of  experiences that were changing the way I looked at things.  The hardships made me realize that that was God's way of making me ready for the next phase in life. The growing pains can seem to last forever.  Once we go through and survive the ordeal it is then we see that we emerge stronger and wiser.

The 3 butterflies on the left and the 4 on the right are signs of my 34th birthday. This year of my life I felt like a butterfly, ready to fly away.
