Hidden Treasures

These paintings were created with  Artist Dan Mackin. I had the best time painting in his studio while I was on a Florida tour.  Here's the inspiration.

One day while listening to the treasure hunting stories that had captured my imagination, I got the idea for creating a symbolic painting.  This piece asks "Where is the hidden treasure"?  most people would automatically assume that the treasure chest full of gold is the treasure and not look any deeper into this piece.  

Here is the secret.  The ships mast makes a symbolic reference to the cross. The light rays lead you to the source. I believe that God is the hidden treasure.  Without the Lord we are all buried with our burdens.  With the Lord we can all find the light.  When you put your trust in the Lord you shall have peace from all the worldly troubles.  Even the shark does not seem threatening.  The two palm trees symbolize a couple.  Love is all we need.  Even if it is the last thing on a deserted island! 

When you live life chasing the "money", the shark becomes a very crucial part of the scenery.  It now seems to be guarding the wealth of the worldly treasures.  It is a trap to what you think true happiness is. Money can buy you things but true peace comes from within.  Next time you are posed with the question " What is the hidden treasure in your life?" What are you going to say?
