When you look at this child, you see their faults
Only looking at their rap sheet and past assaults
When you look at this child, you see their hate
Looking at their court sheet and what is set for their fate
When you look at this child, you see their scars
And you fail to look past the black steel bars
When I look at this child, I believe they have faith
That they will last over the month of eighth
When I look at this child, I believe they can love
It is the one thing that they need more of
When I look at this child, I believe they can change
They will give up their past for a fair exchange
For a chance for you to show them the way
For this is what i will always pray
